As a follow up to Kaoru Watanabe’s Japanese Percussion pack, he returns to Splice sharing with all of us the mystic sounds of Japanese flutes. After spending a decade in Japan studying Japanese percussion and flutes and a grueling two-year apprenticeship, he became a member of the internationally acclaimed Taiko Performing Arts Ensemble Kodo.
This experience led to a life of traveling the world playing these beautiful instruments and performing in esteemed venues like Carnegie Hall. This pack was recorded at the Kaoru Watanabe Taiko Center in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, and features the sounds of a wide range of bamboo flutes played in traditional and contemporary styles.
