Tape has always been a staple of the word ‘analog’. In the 1970’s, composers like Terry Riley, and Steve Reich pushed the boundaries of the manipulation of analog tape equipment. The term “Tape Loop” was coined and has remained still somewhat of an enigma 40 years later.
Che Ramirez has created ’Tape Loops: Textures and Effects’ with composers like Riley and Reich in mind, tailored to the innovative composer/producer who thinks outside the box. Calming synth pads, heavenly arpeggiations, odd synthesized drums, and abstract cassette effects, have all been wrapped in gargling tape warble, coated with a blanket of hiss and hints of real analog tape delay.
